Steve Smith issues personal apology to mother of heartbroken 9-year-old fan, 'sorry I made him upset'

Former Australian cricket captain Steve Smith has issued a personal apology to Deborah Knight and her son after the journalist revealed that she was forced to console her son over the cheating scandal.

Deborah had disclosed how her nine-year-old Darcy had been upset over the ball tampering.

Steve Smith contacted her via Twitter with the message, "Could you please apologise personally to your son from me. Sorry that I made him upset also."  

Deborah replied, "Thanks you so much for making contact Steve. My son wants you to know he admires you even more than he did."
